Seeing What Others Miss

There’s Always Another Way.

For more than thirty years, I’ve found myself drawn to the same kind of problem: the one that doesn’t seem to have an obvious answer.
Sometimes it was launching a company, entering a market, repositioning a brand, negotiating a partnership, or helping a leader navigate a critical decision.
The circumstances changed. The pattern didn’t.
There was usually something important hiding in plain sight.
A different way to frame the problem. An overlooked opportunity. A connection others hadn’t made. A door no one had tried opening.

Over time, I discovered something else. Behind nearly every business challenge was a human challenge—and behind the human challenge was the way we perceive, value, and interpret the world around us.

THE BILLION-DOLLAR SHIFT

While others were still debating where the internet was headed, I saw the coming shift to digital, video, and mobile—and helped shape strategy during the era that ultimately produced a billion-dollar transaction.

THE GOLDEN TICKET

A nationally recognized publishing company knew digital mattered. What they hadn’t recognized was that one of their greatest existing assets could become the foundation of an entirely new digital business.

THE SOCIAL MEDIA TURNAROUND

One of America’s leading insurance brands made a social-media move that threatened years of carefully built positioning. I helped identify what had gone wrong—and chart a way back.

THE CAMPAIGN NEEDED MORE THAN VOTES

A Latin American presidential candidate came looking for campaign strategy. The deeper problem wasn’t messaging. It was vision. Before asking a country to follow him, he needed to articulate where he intended to lead it.

THE BURGER KING PROBLEM

A Burger King franchise was facing a problem conventional marketing wasn’t going to solve. The answer came from somewhere nobody was looking—and turned into a nationally recognized success.

The Journey

Business was where the journey began. Curiosity is where it led.

Decades spent solving business problems kept leading me somewhere unexpected. Behind the strategy were people—and behind the people were deeper questions.

Why do we see the same situation differently? Why do intelligent people miss what seems obvious to someone else? How do fear, trust, belief, and experience shape the way we interpret reality?

Those questions eventually took me far beyond business—into psychology, philosophy, science, history, and faith.

I kept following the questions.
